SUGGESTED TRUSTEES. DECISION NOT YET KNOWN. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, August 31. Mr J. St. L. Strachey,. writing in the Spectator, says that in 1908 Lord Northcliffe contemplated the appointment of trustees to carry on the Times as a national institution. Mr Strachey suggested the appointment of the Lord Chancellor, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Primate, and the Vice-Chancellors of Oxford and Cambridge, together with the editor and manager , in order to represent the elements of the community with which the Times was specially concerned. It is still unknown whether the idea was adopted in Lord Northcliffe’s will.
