PRICE OF BUTTER
INCREASE IN AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. AUCKLAND, Monday. An increase in the price of butter in Auckland is announced. The wholesale price of first-grade from to-day will be Is Bfd per lb., an increase of Id on the previous ruling rate, which was fixed at Is 7Jd on August 18. The retail price of first-grade butter from to-day will be Is lid per lb, also an advance of a penny. The price for second-grade brands has been fixed at Is 9d per lb retail. The increase was not unexpected, in view of the London market quotations, which at latest advices were equal to rather more than Is 9d per lb wholesale. In Wellington and Christchurch the wholesale price of first-grade butter is Is 9d per lb.
