Lafferty, of Frankton, left by last night’s express for Wellington en route for Christchurch. v The election of officers of the New Zealand Educational Institute resulted: President, Mr D. W. Low; vice-president, Mr C. T. Aschman; treasurer, Mr B. T. Blake. Colonel D’Arcy Chaytor will leave for England, by the lonic on June 9. Ifcyis his intention to reside there for some time.
Mr W. Jones, chairman of the Who - ngarei County Council, announced vssterejay that he will contest the Marsden seat as an Independent Reform candidate. Mr Jones is the fourth Reform 1 candidate in the field. He is regarded as a man of strong personality, and an able speaker.
In connection with the headmastership of the Hamilton West School the name of Mr A. 0. Buchler was recently mentioned as a probable successor •to Mr W. H. Worsley. Friday’s Manawatu Standard says it is understood that Mr Buchler has been appointed headmaster of the Terrace End School, Palmerston North.
