A 15 PER CENT .ADVANCE. IMPROVED TRADE PROSPECTS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) WELLIXGTON. Thursday. A report that the price of wool had made a big advance in the London market was mentioned in Hie" House by Mr E- I lord man (Manawatu), who said it was important that wool-growers should know exactly what had occurred. The actual advance did not appear to be as large as Ihe percentage that had been quoted.
The Prime Minister replied that he bad told members that morning that the increase at the London wool sales was reported lo be 50 per cent. He had added that if the increase had been 25 per cent, he could have understood it. ' He had since had the cable checked, ami had found that the actual increase was, 15 per cent. That was a substantial increase. - and ought to be welcome to people of I his country.
Mr Massey added that he had seen some figures, showing that the exports of manufactured goods from Britain in July were as great as in May and June combined. This was a very satisfactory' state of affairs, as it showed that manufacture was increasing and demand was increasing. It was also a hopeful indication for the sheepowners of New Zealand.
