SILESIAN PROBLEM

THE LEAGUE’S AWARD CONSTERNATION IN GERMANY. MARK DROPS 50 POINTS. (Australian and N-Z. Cabin Assn.) PARIS, October 12. The Council of the League of Nations has decided that Poland is to receive the southern districts of Plcss and the greater part of Rybnik. Germany retains the western districts of GleiwiU and Zabrze and the town of Bculhon. Poland receives Konigshutte and the outskirts of Beuthen and the town and outskirts of Kattowitz, also the eastern portion of the districts of Tarnowilz and Lublinitz, the western portion going to Germany, which retains the other northern, western and central districts. BERLIN, October 12. The Cabinet held a sitting lasting several hours. It received reports from the Ambassadors, all of the same tenor, that they were unable to exercise any influence in obtaining a favourable decision for Germany over Silesia- All added that there was little prospect of the Supreme Council reversing the decision. The evening papers appeared with headings such as "Injustice to Geneva." Under the influence of the news the mark fell 50 points. The fury of the press and public is indescribable, especially as many believed that the threat that the Wirth. Ministry would resign would have had an effect on England and France.
