IRISH PEACE NEGOTIATIONS

BREAKING THE TRUCE RECIPROCAL ALLEGATIONS. RELEASE OF INTERNEES REFUSED. (Australian and N.Z, Gable Assn.) Received October 13, 5.40 p.m. LONDON, October 12. The sub-committee of the Irish conference discussed the strengthening of the truce. The British repescntalivcs pointed out that there were many ways in which the truce was being evaded, Including the commandeering of Government properly and the training of Sinn Fein forces. The Irish delegates replied to the allegations with countercharges, and urged that the whole matter was bound up with the question of internees, v- ho number more than 3250. They said the release of the prisoners would he a great factor in easing the situation, but the British delegates replied that such release would have a prejudice! effect in the event of the conference failing. The Government made it plain that they will not release the internees.
