QUEENSLAND LOAN
A REGRETTABLE TRANSACTION. (United Press Association.) MELBOURNE, October 11. The Federal Treasurer considers Queensland's American borrowing regrettable—firstly, because it is the first time in Australia a State has gone outside the Empire for financial accommodation, and, secondly, because the rate of interest, 7 per cent., for Government security, i s very high. The State Treasurer. Mr W. M. McPherson, questioned regarding the possibility of Victoria negotiating a loan in America, declared that the Government would stick to London for loans.
