Mr C. Trigg, late licensee of the Royal Hotel, Hamilton, has leased Messrs Latta Bros, property at Okete.

Lord Ranfurly, in a letter to a friend, states that he hopes yet to be able to make a trip to New Zealand with Lady Ranfurly. The Christchurch Presbytery has nominated Rev. W. Comrie for the Moderato.rship of the Presbyterian General Assembly.

Dr Robertson, from Trcntham military hospital, has taken up his duties as medical superintendent of the Wanganui hospital. Dr Unison, the retiring superintendent, has been connected with the institution since 1013.

Rev. Vj. 0. Perry, who has been the itinerating' minister of the Auckland Presbytery since 1900, has. owing to advancing years, tendered his resignation. The resignation is to take effect as from December 1. Prior to the formation of the Waikato Presbytery this district, was included in Mr Perry's area, lie being' well-known amongst the settlers in the scattered districts.

His Excellency the Governor-General ("Viscount Jellicoc) and Lady Jellicoe will leave Wellington on October 2j for Wanganui. On October 27 their Excellencies will motor to New Plymonth, and on the afternoon of Friday, October 28, Lady Jellicoe will perform the official opening of the Clarke Memorial Hostel. While in Taranaki Their Excellencies propose to visit Inglewood, Waitara. and Mount Egmont, and they will leave New Plymouth for Wellington on October 31. A farewell social was tendered by the Waikato Caledonian Sports and Social Society last evening to one of the organisers of the Society, Mr W. M. Keenan, who is leaving to take up th-; position of steward at the Middlemore Golf House, Auckland. Dr Pinfold was in the chair. Mr Keenan was the recipient of a clock suitably inscribed, and Mrs Keenan of a handsome cake dish. Mr Keenan suitably acknowledged the presentations on behalf of himself and wife, and also replied to several toasts proposed in connection with his good work for the Society.
