THE RUSSIAN FAMINE
SUFFERING OF THE CHILDREN. SOVIET'S HELPLESSNESS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.)' Received October 12, 9.30 a.m. COPENHAGEN, October ii. The Soviet, which anticipated being able to feed 2,000.000 starving 'peasants, now finds that it is only able this month to provide food for, half a million, but will be able to supply 50 per t cent in November and 75 per cent-in December. The largest number of victims is among the children. The attempt to remove them from the famine areas proved a failure. The children suffered terribly owing to the defective means of transportation, and in many instances half died on the journey.
