The weather has been abnormally dry for some lime in tbis district, and farmers are anxiously looking for rain. Light Railways. Settlers at Te Akau are signing a petition Te Akau be cut out of the proposed light railway rating aiea. Roll of Honour. The unveiling of the Te Mala School Roll of Honour look place in school-room and was performed by the vicar of Raglan, Rev. C. B. W. Seton. The Dead March in "Saul" was played by Mrs Leech, and the Lasl Post by Bugler Parker. The school children then sang the hymn "Abide with Me," and the National Anthem closed a very impressive ceremony. TIRAU. Commercial Travellers' Concort. The Tirau Hall trustees some months ago formulated a scheme, embodying improvements to the hall and also a memorial commemorating I lie Great War, 1914-18. A considerable sum was subscribed, but owing to I lie financial stringency and the fact thai some portions of the district had not been canvassed, it was decided not to proceed with I lie work at the moment. Mr F. Rose, one of the trustees, approached the commercial travellers, and in response to his overtures their concert party will give a grand concert on Thursday next. October 13. The public of Tirau and surrounding district are urged to make the event a success, which will enable Ihe trustees to make the hall—which belongs to the public—a credit to their district. The suggested improvements include anterooms, supper-room, kitchenette,' and library, etc.
