THEFT OF JEWELLERY
FROM MAORI WOMAN. (United Press Association.) SYDNEY, October 10. Munrcme and Munro were formally charged with the theft of Maori jewellery. Detective Thom, of Wellington, is i awaiting an extradition order to escort the accused back to Wellington. [ At Broken Hill, on September 2<, ; Frederick Munrcme, manager, and Robert Heaton Monro, advance re- ; presentativc, of the Maori cntertaino”s’ party, were remanded on eight days' , bail on a provisional warrant, charging j them with obtaining from Minewa j Hermia, at Wellington, .jewellery vain- j ed at £3OO. In defence, it was stated i that the jewellery was given them by j Hermia for safekeeping, to be realised upon if a difficulty arose with I he touring party. It is now in the possession of a solicitor at Palmerston.
