EMERGENCY MEASURES.

The, secretary of the National Conference of Unemployment reports lhat the following remedial measures have been taken:— !

1. Emergency committees have been established, and arc actively working in Hie cities, and are in process of formation in other cities. They are coordinating the efforts of all sections of the community to solve the unemployment problem. 2. Conferences between the President, Mr 11. C. Hoover, and beads of great national industries, including railways, coal and shipping, are resuiting in definite steps to meet the emergency.

3. Great national commercial and employers’ associations are assisting Mayors to meet the situation generally. 4. A number of cities are to proceed immediately with local public works.
