SCALING MOUNT EVEREST

A PRACTICABLE ROUTE DRIVEN BACK BY A STORM. FAVOURABLE WEATHER AWAITED* (The Times.) Received October 11, 12.50 p.mLONDON. October 10. The latest advices from the Mt. Everest expedition state that a route to the summit by the north-east route lias been found practicable. Six members of the expedition, with 20 coolies, camped at a bend of the Kharla Valley at an altitude of 22,500 feet, and three members of the party ascended Col, connecting Everest with the north peak, to 25.000 feet. They found route possible, hut they were driven back by a furious gale lasting for four days. They are awaiting favourable weather for a final climb.
