According to the newspaper Asahi Rhimhun, Japan means to demand equal commercial opportunities in Australia at the Washington Conference. She also intends to ask for discussion of the Franco-.lopancse dispute ineolying customs payment. Received October 19, 12. a a.m. WASHINGTON, October 9. Mr Gompers has announced the formation of an Advisory Committee, consisting of 100 prominent American men and women. It is stated the object of the committee is to aid to crystalize public opinion on the great issues before the conference, and to concentrate and focus this opinion on the conference in a spirit that will not obstruct Labour, but help to a successful conclusion, and urging that •the sessions continue until some "of the menacing war clouds are removed and a radical reduction in armaments accomplished.
