PUBLIC OPINION

As expressed by correspondents, whose letters are welcome, but for whose views we have nc “»«Donsibility. THE NATIONAL ANTHEM. (To the Editor.) Sir, —I was very numb surprised at the omission of the National Anthem at Hio Alexander Watson recital on Tuesday evening. While one docs not for one instant question Mr Watson’s loyalty (for 1m must have taken the oath of allegiance to enable him to land in this country) one, cannot but deplore the omission of “God Save the King” at his recital. Our worthy Minister for Education, Hon. C. .1. Parr, is doing everything possible to inculcate the spirit of loyalty into the youth of this Dominion by saluting the flag and singing the National Anthem. Surely we should'do all we can to assist him. Boys and girls formed a groat portion of last night’s audience, and I am sure the omission of the National Anthem will tend to check the growth of loyally in our youth. What arc our city fathers thinking about to allow such a tiling to happen?—l am, etc., LOYALTY.
