I ! RETAIL PRICES FOR JUNE QUARTER. The Government Statistician has issued his monthly abstract which shows the index numbers for food groups (groceries, dairy produce and meat), and rent for 25 Dominion towns. It will bn noted from the following table that while in the food groups Hamilton is below the Dominion weighted aver- ! age. in rent it occupies a position well jat the head of the list, the result | being dial it is still Ibe dearest town

The towns showing a smaller percentage than Hamilton are Napier 54.01, New Plymouth 55.23, Taihape 58.30, Grcymoulh 58.35, and Oamaru 58.8 i.
