MOTHER RESCUES FAMILY
FIRE AT HUARfIU. (By Telegraph.— Press Association). PAP ABO A, Friday. A tiro occurred about nine o'clock on Wednesday night at the railway works at llaiirau, the residence of Mr .1./Lane, railway contractor, being burned to the ground.
.Mrs lame was aarne in Hie house with eight children, her husband being camped some miles away. Owing to the prevailing gale and storm site was unable Lo make the neighbours aware of Die lire, but sin; kept her presence of mind and safely rescued all Hie family, also saving a few effects. AfliTwards Mi's Lane almost collapsed llirough strain.
The buggy and line feed and I,'irness shed adjacent lo Hie house were saved. The lire started in one of the bedrooms.
Mr Lane is a heavy loser on imih house, and contents. The residents are accommodating the family tcnlporarily.
