The Australasian boxing finals were decided at the Stadium to-night, before an audience of several thousand people. Bantamweight. In the scmi-linals of ttie bantamweight division Purdy (New Zealand), 8.1, defeated J. Poole (Tasmania), 7.11, on points, after four rounds of lively boxing. Purdy was pleasing with Jeff and Fight hooks to the head and smart footwork. R. Histuccia (Victoria), 8.2, heat V. Nolan (Queensland), 7.5, on points.

In the. bantamweight final later in 'the evening Purdy (New Zealand) beat Ristuccia. (Victoria) on points. Both boxers were active for the second appearance of tlie evening. Purdy was always aggressive, but found Ins opponent a hit difficult to manage, as the latter is a right-fooled boxer. May lost points through over-anxiety to land a knockout. From hot exchanges at the close of ihe last round, May hit the boards and was down for four seconds. He rose very groggy, but Hie bell saved him, and he had accumulated sufficient points to give him the verdict, despite the knockdown. Still he was extremely lucky, as he would have been an easy prey for Hie knockout had the bell not intervened. Welterweights. In the welterweights Finley (New Sonlli Wales), 10. Gl, beat Marlyn (Victoria), 10. G, on points. Middleweight. In Ilie middleweight division Mcalo (New Zealand), 11. JA, heat Williams (Queensland), 11.1 A, on points, after considerable clinching and shuffling. The contest was not attractive, but a number of solid blows were delivered to the bead by Mcale. Heavyweight. In ttie heavyweight division McCleary (New Zealand)’, 12. G, beat Jardiuc (New South Wales), 11.41, on points. McCleary gave away practically two stone in addition to being much the shorter man. McCleary seemed puzzled at times where or tiow to bit the Welshman, but he managed to land hefty lefts and rights to ilie head and body- Jarline endeavoured to rush his opponent, hut McCleary was too licet of fool. Jardine was urged hy Ihe referee not in hold on. In the last round McCleary gave an excellent display, evading the onslaught and easily secured the verdict. He was loudly cheered.
