AN EXCESS OF IMPORTS. | BUT RAPIDLY DIMINISHING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The total value of exports of produce from the Dominion for Hie 12 months ended August .'sl. as reported by Hie Government Statistician, was j £48,981,703, or £2,100,000 heller than j for the corresponding 12 months ufj 1919-1920. The value of exports ofi New Zealand produce for the eight ; months ended August 31 last was i £33,948.128, or £3,389,000 hotter | than for the eight months ended Aug-| usl 31,1920. The relation between all i exports and ail imports for the 12 i months ended August 31 is as follows:j Exports. £50,038,938; imports £58,7 51!, 210. There is still an excess of imports j over the whole 12 months, and it: amounts to £8,717,000. Imports are, | however, rapidly diminishing, as 1 lip ; following comparisons show: —1920: ■ Eight months, £35.510,318; August only, £0.11)7,940. 1921: Eight months, j £32,070,700; August only. £2,023,587. ; For the monlli of Augusl only, im- i ports arc; under £IOO,OOO in excess of j exports. The export season is now | opening with tile dispatch of dairy produce.
