DISPUTE BEFORE COUNCIL. A sitting of tire Conciliation Council, under the presidency of Mr T. Harlc Giles, was held in Hamilton to-day, to hear the country Licenser] hotels' dispute. The claims of the union included increased v;ages and improved conditions. The assessors for the employers were Messrs T. Parker (Raglan), J. Eraser Smith (Frankton), .1. 11. Pagni (Auckland) ; and for the Union. Messrs A. Jackson. H*. G. Hobdcn and R. Morton (Auckland). A lengthyi discussion took place on the Union's claims and the employers' counter-proposals, and full opportunity was afforded to the representatives of the country districts to voice their opinion in relation to the Union's claims. No finality can be reached until the dispute has been further considered at T-iuranga, Whakatane and Whangarcl, after which there is a strong probability that a final settlement will be arrived at.
