THEFTS FROM PHARMACY

FACE POWDERS, WINE, DRENCHES. THREE MEN CHARGED. REMANDED UNTIL SATURDAY. A series of thefts of toilet preparations, wine, and cattle drenches, from Manning's lower pharmacy, extending over the past fortnight, in which three men were implicated, was brought to light at the Hamilton Court, to-day when William Alfred Packer pleaded guilty that between September 21 and October 5 he stole four bottles of glycerine, four packets of drench, 17 tooth brushes, one tin of lysol, one bottle of wine, a hot water bottle and a set of straps, valued at £4 17s; Frederick Thomas Herbert Skinner pleaded guilty that between the same dates he stole a hot water bag, a box of face paint, a box of face powder, a packet of Chamberlain's tablets, a tin of leather polish and spectacle glasses to the total value of £1 15s; and Leonard William Cooper also pleaded guilty that between "the same dates he stole one bottle of tooth powder, two bottles of tooth paste, two bottles of face cream, two bottles of hair oil, three packets of cow drench, a bottle of wine and a packet of face powder, to the total value of £1 2s 6d. Packer was engaged as a bottlewasher at the pharmacy, and th.e other ytwo were employed on structural alterations there. When Lhcy appeared before Mr J. W. Walsh, J.P., this morning, Senior Sergeant Mathew asked for a remand until Saturday, which was granted. Each of the three accused was admitted to bail on a security of £25.
