CRICKET GROUND UPKEEP
ASSOCIATION SEEKS ASSISTANCE. DOMAIN BOARD ASKED TO HELP. Assistance towards the maintenance nf the Scddon Park cricket ground was sought by the Waikato Cricket Association in a letter to t,he Domain Bqard last, night. The secretary, Mr M. Barnett, mentioned that, the Association had had in its employ for some lime an expert groundsman, but the funds of the Association were not yet sufficient, to meet all maint-enanr-c expenses, ami he asked the Board to assist them until the Association was on a better footingMr D. Hay said the cricketers had proposed putting on a man for a month, but the speaker had advised them to try and engage him for the whole season. He suggested the cricketers should provide a certain sum for this purpose, the speaker undertaking to get the remainder in the town. They -did not appear, however, to be helping themselves much. Other sports bodies were holding carnivals, yet cricket, which was most in need of assistance, was doing nothing. The matter was referred to the Sports Committee to confer with the cricketers on the ground.
