LIGHT RAILWAYS
HAWMLTON-FRANKTON JERVICE. REGULAR HALF-HOURLY RUNS. OPENING UP SUBURBAN AREAS. In connection with the propose l ! light railway l'rom Franktun lo Raglan and, Kawhia, an extension of the main proposal is now suggested by carrying the line right into Hamilton. It is pointed out that as a good portion of the hne will be idle during the greater part of each day, the Hamilton end could be put into profitable use by utilising it for a regular half-hourly service between Hamilton and Frankton, which are now becoming so thickly populated. A single carriage would be put on to cope witii the ordinary day traffic, with increased accommodation for special occasions or rush period. The proposal, if carried out, should answer the purpose of a regular train service between Hamilton and Frankton and should do much to popularise, the districts beyond Frankton as suburban residential areas. The suggested route is along the side of the present railway track between Hamilton and Frankton as far as the bend south, when the line cuts off, passes the end of Killarney Road and out on the maiin route to Raglan.
