A Sydney cable states that Mr Storey, the Premier of New South Wales, is in a critical state of health.
The transfer is announced of Constable A. Bissetf; from Huntly to Kaitaia.
Mr Victor Cornaga, senr., and Mr G, B. Carpenter, of Cambridge, will attend the Trotting Club's conference at Wellington this week. Hon. G. W. Russell is regarded as a certain candidate in the Liberal interest for the Auckland seat, rendered vacani by the resignation of Hon. A. M. Myers. Mr G. H. Poster is also mentioned. It is expected that the Labour Party will also run a candidate.
Mr Charles Trigg, prior to relinquishing his position as mine host of the Royal Hotel, was met by members of the Hamilton Fire Brigade, of which Mr Trigg is president, and_ presented with an enlarged framed pheftograph of members of the brigade. Superintendent Archer, in making the presentation, referred to the very practical manner in which Mr Trigg had given his assistance to the" needs of the brigade, for which the members all felt deeply grateful. Three rousing cheers were given for Mr Trigg when the photograph was handed over. The recipient thanked Superintendent Archer for his kindly references, and the brigade as a whole for the manner in which they marked their appreciation.
