TAUPIRI BRANCH. The usual monthly meeting, held in the Taupiri Library, was presided over Is Mr T. 1L Powell, the presiden.. "here was a fair attendance of members. It was decided to protest to the Minister of Agriculture against the actio 1 ,cf the officers of the Horticultural Division in ordering the destruction of hawthorn hedges. It was further decided that tlie Government he asked lo fully compensate farmers for (he expense involved in defraying same ami re-erecting fences. Other branches arc to be communicate I with, in the matter. The Forestry Department was asked to send a representative p. (he district to advise the settlers -in Hie matter of shelter trees. The dangerous railway crossing in the Taupiri township was again the source of a vigorous discussion, and it was decided to co-operate with the Taupiri Progressive League in a petition to the Railway Department re either shifting the station or installing a safely device.
