COAL INDUSTRY
A CRISIS IMMINENT. MEN TO RECEIVE NOTICE. WAGE REDUCTION NECESSARY. (Reuter's Telegrams.) Received February 28, 12.45 p.m. LONDON, February 27. The danger of a crisis appears to hava increased. The coalminers have deolded to give the miners a fortnight's nc-tice immediately after March 81, when the industry will he decontrolled, and a less, estimated al 22. 000.000 weekly, owing to the trade slump and the decline of coal exports, which the Government is now making good, will fall upon the coal industry. It is stated that tha I owners express th'» opinion that a 20 to ! 2" per cent reduction in wages Is ne- ! cessary in order to put the industry on a | sound economic footing. They favour the continuation of State control at least utitil an agreement is reached between i.he owners and miners.
