TRAGEDY OF IRELAND
$ FURTHER BRUTAL MURDERS. POLICE AND SOLDIERS SHOT. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received February 25, 9.20 a.m. LONDON, February 2*4. A policeman who was patrolling th« main street at Bandon was shot dead, while two soldiers and a petty officer near by were'seized by armed mea. After giving a letter 10 the petfy officer, . addressed to the Commanding Officer of _" the Essex Regiment, they released him. The other soldiers were taken a short distance and shot dead. Sir Hamar Greenwood, in the Hous9 of Commons, said that the charged with looting were returned to Ireland to have the charges thoroughly investigated. General Crozier's resignation was not due to an attempt to frustrate discipline. Sir Hamar Greenwood stated that 62 members of the__ forces in Ireland had been arrested for robbery and other offences since January 1. At the inquest on the body of Filson, a merchant, who was found dead in tha Irish mail train, a verdict of suicide was * returned.
