Mr R. F. Bollard, M.P. for Raglan, visited Karamu to-day, where ho opened the new tennis courts. Second Lieut. .1. A. Ritchie, 16th (Waikato) Regiment, has passed Examination A for promotion. Hon. John Barr, of Christchurch, lias been* re-appointed for another term to the Legislative Council. Mr C. W. Ralfe has been elected president of the Raglan Chamber of Commerce. * Captain 11. A. Bell will represent the Cambridge Fire Brigade at the Napier demonstration at the end of this month. Captain E. R. G. R. Evans, C. 8., D.S.U., H.N., the former Antarctic explorer, is to command H.M.S. Carlisle, which is on the China station. Mr F. V. Fraser, Assistant Public Service Commissioner, who has been appointed to Hie office of Judge of the Arbitration Court, was farcwellcd by the Commissioner (Mr W. R. Morris) and his staff, and presented with a suitcase and pipe. Sir W. Dennis, principal of Hie firm of Messrs Dennis Brothers, the makers of Ihc Dennis fire engine and other motor vehicles, who is at present in Rotorua, will visit Hamilton to-morrow.-when lie will inspect the local engine to see how it stood the recent smash. •
