DAVIS CUP TEAMS
WELCOME BY PRIME MINISTER. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Prime Minister sent the following message to the cafdains of the teams which arc to meet in the Davis Gup contest at Auckland:— To Mr Hardy, captain of the American team: “On behalf of Hie New Zealand Government I desire to tender to yourself and other members of the team which America lias sent to contest the Davis Cup a very hearty welcome to our Dominion. We hope you will spend a very pleasant and enjoyable time during your visit to New Zealand, and that you will be able to carry away happy memories when the time comes for your departure. I tiope to have the pleasure of greeting you all personally later on.” . To Mr Brooks, captain of the Australian team; “The New Zealand Government expresses to you and other members of the Australasian team a most cordial welcome on your arrival in New Zealand for the purpose of defending the Davis Cup. We shall watch closely the contests which arc to take place, and, win or lose, you will have our good wishes for a series of highly enjoyable and interesting competitions. I hope to welcome you all personally later on, and in the meantime I wish you and your team a very pleasant lime amongst — ll-3. IHv—ora-A 1
