ALLEGED SUBORNATION
IN THE EASTON CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Tuesday. Thos. Martin and others were before the Court on a charge of attempting to influence one Campbell by means of a bribe in the case against Easton, fo.' perjury heard at the Supreme Court. A number of witnesses gave evidence as to the accused urging them to acquit Easton, and hinting that they would be well paid. He was also talking in the witness' room, where he had no right. Counsel for the defence contends! that the charges were faultily drawn, and disclosed no offence. Tile magistrate said there was a case to answer and committed Martin for trial.
