Lale on Saturday afternoon Dr Pueyrredon, head of the Argentine delegation, saw M. Hymans, president of the League, and stated that under directions from his Government, he would quit the League unless the. four amendments in the covenant, proposed by the Argentine, were adopted, the chief of these being the admission of all sovereign States and that smaller States should have representation without a vote. Dr Pueyrredon, in an interview, stated that none of the Argentine amendments conflicted with the Versailles Treaty. lie simply looked upon the League as one for all humanity. M. Hymans, in an interview, said he could not make any declaration until the Assembly was informed. He understood that Paraguay, which supported the /.rgentine, was awaiting instructions from its Government. While there was no suggestion of the intention of others to leave the League, it was well known that Scandinavia; Portugal and Chili were in strong sympathy with the Argentine's desire for amendment to the covenant.
