WESTFIELD MARKETS. Messrs Airreil Buckland and Sons report: On Wednesday at our weekly Westncld rat slock market, we sold fat cattle to the number or 323 head, comprising 212 steers, 108 cow.; and heifers, and 3 hulls. There was a keen demand throughout, and last week's improved values were easily sustained, and In some cases exceeded. Extra choice ox, to £2 Iss per 1001 b; choice and prime ox, £2 15s to £2 ITS; ordinary and plain, £2 10s to £2 Ms; rough beef, £1 10s lo £1 ISs; cow and beiter heef, £2 to £2 12s. Heavy prime steers ranged from £33 to £25 15s, lighter prime £IS los to £22 10s, light prime £ls to £l7 1 Os; small and unfinished steers, £lO 10s to £l4 10s; heavy prime cows, £ls to £l7; lighter prime £ll to £!<! 10s; other cows, £5 10s to £lO 10s; eight steers from Mr 11. Sutherland, Matamata, £l7 10s. The sheep pens were well filled with a nice class of mutton. There was a strong inquiry, with a further rise in values. Heavy prime woolly wethers, £2 2s to £2 ss; a few extra heavy prime woolly wethers made £2 12s fid; heavy shorn welhers, £1 10s Od to £2 2s; medium to heavy prime shorn wethers £1 16s Od to £1 IDs; lighter and unfinished prime shorn wethers £i 13s to £1 I6s; heavy prime woolly ewes, £1 168 to £l 10s; heavy shorn prime ewes, £1 17s to £1 19s 3d; lighter prime shorn ewes, £1 14s to £1 16s 0d; other shorn ewes, £i 10s to £1 13s; small shorn hoggets, £1 7s to £1 8s (1431 sold.) Spring lambs were penned in extra large numbers—an increase of 182 on last week's entry. There was a steady demand, but the big supply accounted for a drop of 5s to Ss a head on ruling high values. Best heavy sold at rrom £1 10s 0d to £1 13s 3d, lighter prime £1 7s 6d to £1 1 Os, light prime £1 4s 3d to £ 1 7s (300 sold.) Fat and young calves came forward in average numbers. Competition was keen, with values slightly better than last week's report. Runners made from £0 5s to £lO, heavy vealers £4 15s to £O, medium £3 10s to £4 IDs, light £2 7s to £3 ss, small £1 to £2 3s, fresh dropped Ss lo ISs—(141 sold.) Pigs were yarded in extra large numbers, which comprised mostly baconers of good quality. There was 'a steady demand, hut values receded on last week's quotations. Choppers, to £7; medium to heavy baconers, £0 15s to £7 os;' light baconers £5 10s to £0 ss; heavy porkers, £4 5s to £5 ss; light to medium porkers, £3 10s to £i; slips, £2 15s to £3 ss: weaners, good, £1 15s to £2 9s (138 sold.)

Choice oxen sold to £2 18s per 1001 b, prime oxen £2 13s to £2 17s, rough and inferior oxen £i 10s to £2 7s; cow and heirer beer, £2 2s to £2 12s. Sters sold. Tor best £2O to £2O 15s for a pen ratted by Mr Renj. Held, Waerenga; others, £l3 to £lO 15s; cows and heiTers sold at rrom £8 to £lO. Sheep were penned in average numbers, selling under keen competition at improved prices.
