ACTIVITIES IN UNITED STATES. ENQUIRY INTO CONDITIONS. NEW ORGANISATION STARTED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received November 18, 11.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, November IS. A Commission of seven from the Committee of 100 investigating the Irish question will open its hearings to-morrow, with two Mayors from Ireland, viz., Mr John Durham, of Balbriggan and Mr Dennis Morgan, of Thurles.
At the conclusion of the examination of the witnesses, the Commission intends sending a sub-committee to Ireland for first-hand investigation. The British Embassy, in refusing an imitation for representation, points out that it could not approve of the purposes of the enquiry, and the only result will he the spreading of propaganda.
The Irish Republican leaders in the United States, under the direction of do Valera, have completed a countrywide organisation of an American Association for the recognition of the Irish Republic, which aims to supplant the Friends of Irish Freedom as the | lcadla S Irish organisation here.
