THE POLISH SITUATION
WIDESPREAD INTRIGUE REPORTED. LITHUANIAN COUNTER OFFENSIVE. TO RECAPTURE VILNA. (The Times.) Received October 13, 7.25 p.m. LONDON, October 12. The Times' Kovno correspondent reports that the latest developments indicate that there is widespread Polish intrigue for the overthrow of the Kovno Government ami substantial union witli Poland. The military position is disquieting. The Poles have cut off the main body of the Lithuanian army from the Viina sector, while the possibility of their advance upon Kovno cannot be disregarded. A wholesale levy on the citizens of Kovno capable of bearing arms is proceeding. The Lithuanians arc preparing a counteroffensive with the object of re-captur-Ins Viina.
ARMISTICE WITH RUSSIA. TO START OX TUESDAY. (Australian anil N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received October 13, 7.26 p.m. RIGA, October 12. The Russo-Polish armistice provides that hostilities will cease at midnight on the 18th. ZELIGNOWSKI REPUDIATED. VILNA TO BE EVACUATED. (Times.) Received October 13, 7.25 p.m. PARIS, October 12. The Polish Government has informed the League of Nations that it disavows General Zelignowski, and intends to take the necessary measures to terminate the occupation of Vilna.
LATER. UKRAINIANS IN KIEFF. BOLSHEVIK INTENTIONS. ATTACK ON UKHANIANS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received October 14, 12.15 a.m. LONDON, October 12. A message from Warsaw states that Lkranian insurgents occupied Kieff, which the Bolsheviks abandoned. A Warsaw communique states that the Bolsheviks are concentrated at Zomoryuyka with the object of a ! - lacking the I'kranian army after the signature of the armistice with Poland.
