The monthly meeting of the Board was lieui on Mokuay. present: Messrs w. \j. i-a-i,ii T. Jones and .... Mr It. ltobson, Koromatua, applied to have the road opened to his property lots, 16-18,, parish of Tuhikaramea. He offered to contribute £2O towards the cost. —Mr C. Ward (who was present at the meeting) said he had inspected the road, and stated that four culverts would be required, and that about 10 chains was swamp containing timber. — It was decided to defer consideration, the members of the Board in the meantime to go over the road. Messrs Gorboy Bros, requested permission to erect the boundary fence of their recently acquired property on the old Whatawhata-Hamiljon road, near the water-table, so that they could deal with the noxious weeds on their road frontage.—Bequest granted, subject to the fence being removed should the Board consider it necessary. The manager, Zealandia Co-operative Milk Foods, Ltd., wrote objecting to the stopping of the road through Mrs Porritt's . property at Tc Kowhai, which gives access to the river. He stated that the company is erecting a dried milk factory at Te Kowhai at an early date, and it is probable that certain supplies of milk will come down the river, and will have to be carted over a portion of the road which it is proposed to close —Mr Saulbrey pointea out that the river landing was used by the natives residing on the opposite side of the river, and they might have an objection to the road being stopped. He said he would ascertain from the natives whether the proposed now road and landing would suit them. Messrs MeClymont and Gallagher submitted their resignations as mem-" bers of the Board, having disposed of their properties, and leaving the district. —The Board accepted the resignations with regret, thanked the' two members for their valuable services in the past, and wished them success in their new ventures. The proposed loan for metalling was again discussed, the Board being of opinion that unless a Government subsidy was assured, the engineer's estimate would have to be considerably curtailed, as it was doubtful whether the ratepayers would sanction a loan of such an amount as £30,000. —The clerk stated that in accordance with the Board's instructions he had written the Minister of Public Works re subsidy, but no reply had been received, and it was decided that the Minister be again approached on the matter.
