v ALLEGATIONS OF MISMANAGEMENT FARMS IN DEPLORABLE CONDITION OFFICERS WITH NO WORK. (United Press Association.) Received January 13, 7.20 a.m. DARWIN, Jan. 12. The Commission heard lengthy evidence regarding the alleged mismanage-' ment of the Government farms, involving neglect of stock. It was stated that the farms were in a deplorable condition, and many of the stock allowed to go unbranded or wrongly branded. Mr Justice Ewing commented on the inordinate number of heads of departments with only two or three clerks in them. These heads could apparently do nothing but send minutes from one to another, and from which no result One witness stated that the wild natives were addicted to cannibalism, and believed it proper to eat any of their relatives who died away from their own country, as if they did not their spirits would not return to their native land.
