KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Kirikiriroad Road Hoard, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs T. Hinton (chairman). J. McGregor. F. W. Thomas, .T. Old, C. M. Brown (engineer), and T. B. Insoll (clerk). Horsham Downs Deviation. Messrs Lichtenstein, Arnoldson and Go. refused to attach their signature to the plan for certain road deviation at Horsham Downs, on the ground that by giving consent they would lose a considerable portion of their frontage. It was held that the boundary line tween the writers’ land and that held by Wintere should be produced-, in a straight line until it reached the new road. This would involve the vesting in Messrs Lichtenstein, Arnoldson and Co. portion of the closed road and the transfer lo them of part of the severance of Wintere’s land. The Board received the communication. Tho Ten-Foot Road. Messrs McCallum Bros, enclosed a sketch of the proposed new road connecting the Soldiers’ Settlement on Mr W. Henry’s farm, adjoining the Tenfoot with the Tauhei road. The Board was offered a chain strip and £230 towards formation and acceptance of the road. Twelve ratepayers on Ihe Ten-fool road petitioned the Board asking that the goad be opened to connect with the Gordonton-Tauhci road, under terms of the offer. The Board resolved to reply that it could not accept the offer. Orlnl Metalling. The Henry Soldier Settlement ratepayers wrote stating that it had been reported in reference to the Or ini special rating area metalling loan scheme placed before the Board that it only allowed of two miles being metalled on the Ton-foot. It was contended that it was tiie intention of the meeting at Oriui to “metal the road,” and not a specific “two miles.” They pointed out that the Ten-foot, between the end of the old sanded mad and the new formation, was not. as it should be, and they urged that the regrading ami sanding, which (hey believed was already authorised, ho put in hand at once. The Board’s decision in the matter will comply with the request of the petitioners. Telephone Road. Mr H. W. Chapman drew the attention of the Board to the matter of constructing the balance of the Telephone road. The writer stated that the work was promised some two years ago, but for some reason—possibly the want of a grader—was not proceeded with. Owing to the soft nature of the road it was necessary to complete the work in the dry season. The same writer also pointed to the necessity of giving attention lo the lower portion of the Piako roar!. The Board resolved to proceed with the Telephone road work immediately; the Piako road will he inspected. Riverview Subdivision, Messrs Thomson and Pa prop, civil engineers and surveyors, submitted a plan of the subdivision of lot 9 (part allot. 210, 211 and 212, off Grey street. Riverview Estate, Kirikiriroa parish), for Messrs. Carryer and Parkington, and asked for the requiremenis of the Board for forming Die road.
