(United Service.} Received January 12, 7.20 p.m. GENEVA, January .-0An unconfirmed report states the princess Mat'alda from America struck'a floating mine and is lost . AUSTRALIAN WHEAT. HEAVY LOSS DISCLOSED. (United Press Association.) Received January 12, 8.55 p.m. SYDNEY, January Vi. Without attempting an accurate estimate the Wheat Commissioners’ report suggests that there was a loss on the 1916-17 crop through neglect, mice, weevils, thieving and overpayments of between 2,500,000 and 5,000,000 bushels. POTATO SUPPLIES IMPROVED. Received January 12, 8.55 y.“. SYDNEY, January 12. Potatoes show a drop of from £6 to £8 per ton, owing to increased suppuos being available.
