DISTURBED EGYPT
ITALIAN SUBJECT KILLED. A SATISFACTORY EXPLANATION. ANTI - BRITISIIDEM 0 N STRATI ON. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received January 12, 5.5 p.m. CAIRO, Jan. 8. The Italians are excited over the death of a compatriot, a musician from the Kursaal, who was killed by a blow from a pick handle while endeavouring to force a cordon of British troops at a crowded crossing. The Egyptian agitators are making capital of the incident and arranged for a demonstration at the funeral. The Italian Consul General, who accepted the British explanation, diverted the funeral and avoided a demonstration, but the Egyptians demonstrated at the Kursaal displaying the Italian flag and shouting: “Down with England. Long live Italy.”
