RAILWAYMEN’S WAGES
* GOVERNMENT TERMS REJECTED. WAR WAGE WANTED AS STANDARD (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received January 12, 9.45 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 9. The Railway conference rejected the wages offer which has been referred hack to the executive for further negotiation with the Government. The railwaymen resolved on demanding a standard wage in each grade equal to the highest pre-war rates in each grade, plus 33s war wage. Therefor© they returned the recent proposals to the Government. The conference will remain in session until the Govern-? menfs reply is received.
