The Board of Trade returns show that the imports in December were £169,000,000, and the exports £90,000,000. increases of £53,000,000 anri £52,000,000 respectively compared with December 1918. The imports in 1919 were £1,632,000,000 and the exports £798,000,000, representing increases of £315,000,000 and £297,000,bOO compared with 1918. The principal increases for the year in imports were:—-Food £142,000,000, raw materials £188,000,000, of Which £40,bOO,OOO were expended on cotton and £65,000,000 on wool.
