WAIKATO TROTTING CLUB
meeting at claudelands. (FINE WEATHER. BIG ATTENDANCE
KEWPIE WUNS PRINCIPAL EVENT.
The annual meeting of the AVaikato Trotting Club was held at the Claudelands course to-day m excellent weather. The course was in good order, hut on the hard side. Patrons came from all parts of the province lo assist at the fixture, which, from attendance and investment points of view, promises to be a record one in the history of the club. From Auckland and stations en route the special train this morning brought several hundreds to the course, the ordinary morning trams from the many other directions supplied further big quotas, while the sporting community which travelled by motor ear to the convincing ground was a very material proportion of the attendance. To thepe have to be added the supporters of the light harness sport from the town and its immediate environs, which is the main avenue of attendance, and considerably in advance of the numerical standard of any' previous gathering. The racing concluded up to the time of going to press was of an interesting nature. Speculation was brisk, and it seems safe to predict that the club s totalisator turnover for the day will be considerably in advance of the fig u D for last year, when a total of £ l - ;> was passed through the machine o\ cr the eight races.
