QUEENSLAND'S GOVERNOR
PROTEST IN PARLIAMENT. A MEMBER SUSPENDED. (United Press Association.) Received January S, 10.20 p.m. BRISBANE, January 8. The appointment of Mr Lennon, a member of the Labour Party as Lieut - Govcrnor, produced a scene m tne Asscmblv. Mr Barnes, ex-treasurer, expressed strong disapproval on the ground that Mr Lennon had endorsed disloyal utterances made by me Cabinet, adding, “and now forsooth he is thrown upon the State as Lieut.Govcrnor, on the recommendation of this Government.” The chairman ordered Mr Barnes to withdraw his words, but he refused. He was suspended, and left the House amid uproar as a protest against stifling freedom of speech.
