COAL SHORTAGE
ACUTE IN PALMERSTON. GASWORKS NEARLY OUT. RAILWAYS WELL SUPPLIED. (Cy Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Friday. All 11 1 e local yards arc quite out of coal, and the position is becoming serious. Some of the hotels and restaurants threaten to shut up the dining rooms unless supplies arc obtainable. The gasworks have just enough io keep going, but the railway yards have really a good supply, so there is np fear the train services being curtailed.
