FORGERY ALLEGED
p- v THEFT A" ryiQRRINSVILLE. 1 COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. A man named James William Titmus Y was charged at Morrinsville yesterday * with the theft of a brooch and wristlet watch,, .the property Of aft employee" W the Nottingham Castle Hotel* Morriflsville, named Leah Parson, from her bedroom. Titmus had booked a bed at the hotel for one night, and the jewellery was missed after he had left. On this charge he was committed for trial.
■ He was also dlfirged with forging a withdrawal slip on the Post Office SaV* iflgs Bank for £6O, in the name ttf John Hayes, whose book he possessed. It was not until after the money h.i>:d been paid out and the aceeuat s)b3cd that the forgery was discovered. The •whereabouts of the owner $£ the book •has not yet been discovered. Accused was arrested in Auckland when the stolen jewellery and sttme money was found in his possession. The case is proceeding : and fwrther -charges are pending.
