Viscount Beatty, in an interview', said that owing to the reduction ol the naval personnel, 20,000 long service naval men who fought gallantly in the war were now unemployed and suffering distress in spile of their pensions. Viscount Beatty gives details of the brave deeds of several men whose families are practically starving. lie points out that skilled mechanics, electricians and engineers are handicapped in seeking employment by the trades union bar regarding apprenticeship. He suggests that the bar should not be applied to them, and appeals .o employers to give discharged naval men an opportunity of earning a living.
