SOUTH ISLAND ACTIVITY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Tuesday. At a meeting of the Marlhorongh Land and Railway League the president. Mr Pi. F. Goultcr, advocated the Government borrowing £10,000,000 to compete the trunk lines of the Dominion within 10 years, and that an effort be made to complete the more important ones within five years, the money to be borrowed at intervals as required; if sufficient labour be inavailable, the Government to be asked to get the necessary men by immigration. Mr Goulter considered that the South Island Main Trunk should take precedence, and that .the Otira tunnel should be completed as soon as possible.
