INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC
SERIOUS INCREASE IN AUSTRALIA. ALL PARTS AFFECTED. (United Press Association.) SYDNEY, March 30. In view of the continued serious spread of influenza, and the increasing death rate, the restrictions are being further tightened. A number of srhools have been closed. The emergency preparations include taking over a number of public buildings for hospital purposes. The infected areas now Include many country districts. Latest reports from Victoria show there is renewed virulence, and an ncrease in the number of deaths, though this may be a temporary spurt. South Australia and Tasmania both report that the epidemic is getting a wider hold, and there have been a number of deaths.
