MINISTER OF LANDS

HIS VISIT TO WAIKATO. The Minister of Lands, Hon. D. H. Guthrie, will visit the Thames and Waikato districts this week after his lour through the Ohura Valley. On Wednesday the Minister , will travel across the Hauraki Plains, and will spend the night at Mercer, and on Thursday he will go down the river by launch to the Waikato Heads, returning the same evening. On Friday, Mr. Guthrie proposes to inspect all the swamp country In the vicinity of Whangamarino and Pokeno, and if time permits the Rangiriri swamp also. The Minister’s present plan is to catch the South bound Main Trunk train at Frankton on Friday night on his return to Wellington. He will be accompanied on his. Thames and Waikato trip by Messrs R. F. Bollard and T. W. Rhodes, M.P.’s, Mr. J. B. Thompson, chief drainage engineer, Mr. A. G. C. Glass, and members of the Waikato Drainage Board.
