ASSISTANCE FOR SOLDIERS
FEBRUARY RETURNS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ' WELLINGTON, Friday. ' The February report of the Sol- 1 diers’ Financial Assistance Board slates that the month witnessed a further decrease in all sections of the department’s work, fifty-eight new applications were received and grants completed or approved numbered 238, representing an annual expenditure of £4093 19s Gd, including 107 additional grants, amounting to £1507 19s 7d—a grand total of 10,530 cases and an annual expenditure of £317,022 9s Id. The warrants issued during, the month numbered 3914,'covering an actual expenditure of £10,145 17s 9d. The lessening volume of work rendered possible the release of 35 officers.
